CAT 6 Cabling
Category 6 cabling, or CAT6 cabling is a twisted pair cable for carrying signals. More advanced than CAT5 and CAT5e cabling, CAT6 cabling is capable for gigabit Ethernet. CAT 6 cabling is used mainly used in computer networks, but can also be used to carry telephony and video signals.
If you’re looking to future proof your business’s network as much as possible, CAT6 cabling is what you need. Using CAT 6 cabling for your network is a great way of keeping your data network up to date for longer – plus it won’t break the bank.
How long can I run CAT6 and CAT6 cabling?
You can run CAT6 cables to a maximum length of 100 meters for 10/100/1000bASE-T. For 10GBASE-T CAT6 should not exceed 55 meters. If your network infrastructure requires more than 55 meters or 100 meters’ worth of cabling, you will need to use repeaters to amplify the signal or consider fibre broadband.
